Literary Arts Society Poetry Slam

Aspiring poets may present original poems, with the chance to win gift card prizes. If you're not a poet, you're invited to come listen, react and engage with literary enthusiasts. Community members as well as CLC students are welcome to attend and participate. Refreshments available.

Ticket cost: $10 CLC students; $12 non-CLC students

This semi-formal dance and silent auction helps raise money for the Sterling Award Scholarship honoring the memory of CLC student, Alexander Sterling Dona von Castile, an exceptional writer who loved to share his writing and was willing to help anyone. The Sterling Award is given to persons whom have had or are currently overcoming a struggle using writing.

Enjoy appetizers and beverages.

Attendees are encouraged to wear a masquerade mask.

Prairie Voices won first place (central division) in the Community College Humanities Association Annual Literary Magazine contest in 2017, 2016 and 2014.

Co-edited by CLC art professor Robert Lossmann and CLC English professor Dr. Nicholas Schevera.
